Great information! It amazes me how these almost common sense tips are completely overlooked in most business school education.

This is so important that there should be an entire blog on this. One of the things that has built my business is creating the perfect customer experience. I really try to always put a positive touch on everything I do including things like twiter or facebook. You really have no idea how many people have commented on how in doing business with me people fell they will be somehow lifted to my level of positivity.

Your first comment about smiling brought a smile to my face. When I first started in sales many many years ago, we were taught to put a mirror on our desks and to look in it when we called a customer to make sure we were smiling. The problem is that if a smile is forced you can come across as insincere. While I agree with you that the smile is important, it is even more important that the smile be from a sincere expression of joy. If you think about it, that should not be to hard to do. After all, it is a customer you're talking to!
